Del moved to Sarasota, Florida, in 1982, where he became owner and president of a family-owned business. Nine years later (1991) to the day—July 4th—he experienced a sudden-death, cardiac arrest, followed by a three-week coma. Awakening from the coma he discovered he could not walk, talk, feed himself, read or do any of the myriad of things everyone does unconsciously—and he had absolutely no memory left to help with his recovery. Now familiar with the foibles of the human body, the personality, and what can happen when a person has to deal with an extreme shock to their system, he gives the reader an objective sense of reality about being in a coma, coping with no memory, needing rehabilitation from ground zero, and insights—not always complimentary—into his experiences with both hospital and outpatient care. He went back to graduate school for a doctorate in less than a year out of the coma. Those who deserve praise—get praise.Neeley Ed.D., Delmar G. is the author of 'You'll Be Okay ', published 2007 under ISBN 9781424163960 and ISBN 142416396X.
