John Campbell spent most of his adult life working in sales and marketing for the foundry industry. He was self-employed for twenty-six years as a manufacturers’ agent selling for major metal casting producers. During those years Campbell contributed many technical and business articles to trade and industry related magazines. Retiring in 1995, Campbell started freelancing, using his writing and photography skills to create brochures and newsletters for businesses and local industries. He wrote as a freelancer for SMALL BUSINESS TIMES in Milwaukee for ten years. During that same period he wrote and continues to write technical articles for FABRICATOR Magazine, the official publication of the National Ornamental Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA). Campbell has self-published three paperback books: an anthology, a family history and a memoir entitled It’s Hell To Be Average. He has also published four chapbooks, three of poetry and one of short fiction. His poetry has appeared in the 2005 Goose River Anthology, Free Verse, The Clark Street Review, Back Street Quarterly, Poultry Broadside and past issues of Wisconsin Poets’ Calendar. On four occasions Campbell volunteered with the International Executive Service Corp. assisting foreign foundries with privatizing and marketing programs.
