Winter Passage

PAUL RAYMOND CÔTÉ and CONSTANTINA MITCHELL both hold doctoral degrees from McGill University in Montreal. They met in graduate school and resided in France and Canada before relocating to Washington, D.C., where they now teach French language, literature, and culture. Constantina is a Professor at Gallaudet University, a school for the deaf and hard of hearing, and teaches all her courses through sign language. In addition to independently authoring a significant number of critical studies and book reviews on contemporary writers in France and Québec and serving on the editorial boards of several scholarly journals, they have collaborated on numerous literary projects which include articles that have appeared in The French Review, Quebec Studies, Modern Language Studies, The American Review of Canadian Studies, Francographies, Romance Languages Annual, and L¹Esprit Créateur. They jointly authored the book, Shaping the Novel (Berghahn, 1996), and translated from French into English The Cry of the Gull (Gallaudet University Press, 1998), Deaf Planet (Infinity Publishing, 2002), and Letter from Morocco (Michigan State University Press, 2003). They have a forthcoming translation with University of Nebraska Press entitled I, Nadia Wife of an Algerian terrorist.
