Blake McKelvey was Rochester's City Historian for nearly three decades. In 1939, as Assistant Historian, he started the quarterly Rochester History that is still published today. He was a founding member and first chairman of the Urban History Group and author of numerous scholarly books on urban history and has also published a biography of Joseph C. Wilson. He joined the Rochester Educational Television Corp. and Sibley, Lindsay and Curr in producing an hour-long film of Rochester's history prompted by the bicentennial of America. Dr. McKelvey received his doctorate from Harvard University. Dr. McKelvey died in Rochester in 2000 having just completed his biography of Wilson Ruth Rosenberg-Naparsteck as City Historian edits Rochester History, lectures, teaches, gathers rare resources and researches and writes about the history of the greater Rochester area. She has studied archaeology at Tel Aviv University in Israel and has degrees in Journalism, Sociology/ Anthropology. She received her Masters Degree in American History from the State University of New York at BrockportMcKelvey, Blake is the author of 'Rochester A Panoramic History' with ISBN 9781892724243 and ISBN 1892724243.
