Set in the early 1970s to the turn of the century, "The Proteus Agenda" is the account of a brilliant villain who uses his computer knowledge to scam his various employers. Like the Greek God Proteus, he specializes in disguise and moves from identity to identity if he is in danger of being caught. Although mainly a white-collar thief, Proteus is not adverse to committing murder when his plans are threatened by innocent-or not so innocent- bystanders. He is pursued by Dylan (a criminologist hired by one of the businesses looted by the embezzler), and tension heightens as Dylan several times gets close but is defeated by Proteus' meticulous planning or good luck. However, Proteus is never able to control what others do; a one-in-a-million chance encounter alters his carefully laid plans.Alt, Betty is the author of 'Proteus Agenda', published 2007 under ISBN 9781583851159 and ISBN 1583851151.
