John Ashbery is the author of more than twenty books of poetry and has won many American awards for his work including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the National Book Award, the Bollingen Prize, and the Frank O’Hara Prize. He is the first English-language poet to win the Grand Prix de Biennales Internationales de Poésie. He has received fellowships from the Academy of American Poets, the Fulbright Foundation, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the MacArthur Foundation, and is a former Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
