This charming facsimile edition presents America's first book written specifically for women golfers. Its author, Grenevieve Hecker, was described in a 1903 edition of the N.Y. PressÓ as a slender, blue-eyed girl, with a great mop of beautiful golden hair, which she wears in an enormous pompadour.Ó The charming society lady was crowned Queen of the LinksÓ after winning back-to-back U.S. Women's Amateur championships in 1901 & 1902. She was a stern advocate of a woman's right to play in an era when access to courses was limited. In this book, she boldly encouraged women to play the game, & showed them how to play it well. Much of her advice on playing & the mental side of the game is as valid today as it was in 1904. Photos & drawings.Hecker, Genevieve is the author of 'Golf for Women', published 2006 under ISBN 9781422350096 and ISBN 1422350096.
