Laina Farhat-Holzman lived in Iran during its rapid modernization and witnessed the Islamic takeover of the country by the Ayatollah Khomeini, a militant Shiite Muslim. From 1979 to today, she has observed with alarm the Iranian revolution's widening influence on Militant Islam throughout the world. She has taught World History and Islamic Civilization at Golden Gate University, San Francisco and is currently a regular columnist on international issues for newspapers and journals throughout the Central Coast region of Northern California. During the 1980s, she was an editor for three defense technology journals and she wrote widely on the collapsing Cold War.
