Far Horizons Thirty Years Among the Gauchos of Uruguay

Christopher Edward Empson (1900-1987) was born in the town of Bridlington of Yorkshire, England. After his graduation from preparatory school, he was sent to Osborneard Darthmouth where he joined the English fleet. He spent the last two years of the First World War as a midshipman. After the end of the war, having heard so much about Uruguay, where his father had lived for eight years, Empson resigned from the service and without a word of Spanish, sailed for the country.
