C's Aesthetics Philosophy in the Painting

Joseph Masheck studied art history under Meyer Schapiro at Columbia and proceeded to the doctorate under Rudolf Wittkower and Dorothea Nyberg. A former editor-in-chief of Artforum, (1977-80), he has taught at Columbia, where he was also a member of the Society of Fellows in the Humanities, and at Harvard and Hofstra.
