SUMMARY

Clemente Manenti studied history and languages. He writes documentary articles for various newspapers and Italian TV. Also a teacher of Italian, he runs a language school in Tuscany. He lives in Italy and Germany. Markus Bollen studied photography in Berlin and Sinology in Taipei, Taiwan in 1988. Documenting their ingenious fortification systems has since been one of his principal interests. Margit Bachfischer is a musicologist and lecturer in musicology at the University of Augsburg. She also works as a freelance author and lecturer in her subject. Dr. Katrin Boskamp-Priever studied art history in Bochum and Freiburg. Her main interests are the Middle Ages and 19th-century painting. She is a freelance author based in Leipzig Hartmut Diekmann studied Protestant theology, religious studies, political science and philosophy. He was a parson in Kreuzberg, Berlin for a while before becoming a Waldensian minister in Sicily and Piedmont. Since 1988, he has been a Protestant minister in Naples Prof. Dr. Chiara Frugoni teaches medieval history at the Tor Vergata University in Rome. She has written a biography of St. Francis of Assisi and numerous studies on medieval subjects Dr. Astrid B. Koberstein-Pes studied early ancient history in Freiburg. She then received a doctoral research scholarship to study Sardic prehistory Prof. Dr. Eberhard Konig teaches art history at the Freie Universitat Berlin. He is the author of numerous publications on book illumination, including works on Petrarch and Boccaccio, and has written books on Caravaggio, Michelangelo, the Louvre and the Uffizi Jochen Staebel trained as a bookseller before studying art history and Portuguese and Spanish philology.
