Pennsylvania has one of the most historically significant landscapes in the U.S. This document discusses the King of Prussia Inn, a large stone building sitting on a teardrop-shaped island in the middle of Route 202 in King of Prussia, Montgomery County, PA. Since the 1950s this spot, at the intersection with Gulph Road, has witnessed rapid & extensive change. Today, what was once farmland surrounding a small crossroads village is covered by malls, housing subdivisions, & blacktopped roads & parking lots. A partnership of fed. & state agencies & a non-profit org. raised the funds to save the Inn by moving it to a new location in 1998 & restoring it. The inn¿s history & archaeology, & the inn itself, were all preserved. Illustrations.Affleck, Richard M. is the author of 'At the Sign of the King of Prussia', published 2007 under ISBN 9781422314920 and ISBN 1422314928.
