Classic and contemporary exercises and readings are presented in the workbook/reader. They are chosen because of the way they illuminate or expand on the basic concepts introduced in the text, and they range from beginning to intermediate in skill level. Each reading or set of exercises will be introduced by a brief paragraph explaining its relationship to the text. Readings provide additional background or insight into the subject introduced in the text. Exercises are keyed to specific sections of the text as well. A special feature of the workbook/reader is a series of exercises drawn from a single language and designed to show students the interconnectedness of different levels of analysis. Each section will conclude with a pointer to the companion web site, where students will find additional exercises and readings, links to relevant additional web sites, study questions, and key words to guide them in additional readings in the InfoTrac collection of articles. Exercise updates can be posted on the web site as needed. The instructor's section of the companion web site will include solutions to exercises and guidelines for grading those exercises which students are asked to hand in. The workbook/reader is notebook-sized and is no more than 150 pages in length.Ottenheimer, Harriet Joseph is the author of 'Anthropology Of Language Workbook/Reader', published 2005 under ISBN 9780534594374 and ISBN 0534594379.
